The orange lizard Kin had obtained from that nameless professor in Pallet was currently under heated scrutiny from his own trainer. It was a tad bit unnerving to be ten minutes into a relationship and already gain a scowl from his commanding partner, his trainer, his boss! What was the Charmander to do? And all because of this strange device in his hands, a large circular gizmo with a snake straying from one end of it and into his trainer's ears, called a... a... What did Kin say it was? Something player? He couldn't recollect for the life of him.
"What was this called again?" Charmander tried to work past the odd expression on Kin's face, recognizing it as anger, lifting to the CD player tentatively, careful not to drop it. It was precious to Kin which meant Charmander best keep it in mint condition. However, Kin wasn't biting. Instead, the obsidian haired trainer kept his lips in a thin line, staring hard at Charmander's innocent expression, hoping to burn a hole through his head with the intensity, obviously furious.
"What?" Kin finally questioned in a monotone.
"Umm... D-Do you not remember what it's called?"
The trainer shook his head, locks of obsidian swaying in the air. He pressed his eyes to Charmander again, unnerving the lizard. "What did you say before that?" Tentatively, Charmander paused for a little while, setting the heavy device onto the ground, wanting to make sure his answer was correct before he released it. Apparently already deep into hot water, there was no need to push Kin's buttons any further.
"The Play button is broken?" To exemplify his statement, pudgy orange claws gently prodded the sideway triangle that signified and was labeled as "play". After that magical button had been pressed, than music would begin playing, running from the snake wires and into the earphones. The cause of Kin's anger. Charmander waited for a certain praise, just as the professor use to give Charmander whenever he did something correctly, such as welcome one of the newcomer lizards into the gang or handle chores.
Kin, instead, roughly picked his CD player from Charmander's hand and stuffed it into his sidebag, sighing slightly. Viridian City was a possibility, but the town was so small... He might have to wait until he reached a larger city, such as Cerulean, before he'd be able to have his sustaining rock and rap notes ringing in his ears, the proper setting to stupidly air guitar notes and soundlessly lip the lyrics of his favorite songs. It was how he planned to pass his whole "journey" his father had sent him upon. But not anymore. Well, he'd heard other activities Pokemon Trainers usually engaged in and Kin could try one of those...
"C'mon Charmander," Kin demanded of the lizard, snapping his finger impatiently, "We'll try some of this battling I hear of." With that said, the tiny lizard bumbled towards his trainer, hoping his mood might improve as the journey went on.

Battle? Did somebody say battle?
Caterpie hoped not. Having heard the general ruckus going on over that odd device, the bug Pokemon had come over to investigate for itself what the cause was. Not much information was obtained, but the sight of the Charmander was enough to freeze the Pokemon in it's tracks.
If only Caterpie had realized where it had frozen in fear. It would have known itself to be near-invisible in front of the green and yellow bush. Nobody noticed it as they walked by. Until several strings of silk flew out of nowhere and tied Charmander and Kin to each other. The two were quite securely fastened, the flame Pokemon's tail waving dangerously close to Kin's pant leg.
Caterpie squealed in surprise and finally ducked for cover. But a new wild Pokemon took the notice of Kin - a Rattata taking time to laugh at the situation. *chuckle*

Well, wasn't this rightly horribly humiliating? Kin growled, testing the strength of the silky string, attempting to gain his escape by ripping apart his restraints... Now, if the obsidian hair boy weighted an extra twenty pounds of muscle mass, than something noteworthy may have happened. Instead, he almost tripped himself, balancing on his right foot, the free one expertly holding Charmander's flaming tail away from his pants and any other flammable object in his possession (which, pretty much took the small pot of items he brought with him: his clothes, Pokedex, backpack, CD player, all liable to charring.) And, to add icing to the cake, there was a little violet rodent crackling loudly, snorting at what obviously must've been Kin, unless the brown barks of trees happened to be making faces Kenneth couldn't see.
Before that Rattata escaped, Kin wished to silence its laughter. It was only later that he realized this was the perfect oppurtunity to do these "battles" he'd heard of, commanding Pokemon to dual amongst themselves. Heck, he would've been content to cause bodily harm to the Rattata, as he intended to after carefully guiding Charmander's tail to the curled chamber of strings, burning away the restraint, quickly tossing the remains onto the ground and stomping out any remaining flame to avoid burning himself. But, as Kin bumbled forward to strangle Rattata or so, Charmander rushed forward before he'd had a chance to really complete his violent goals, claws bared.
Scratch, Kin realized late, feeling a bit stupid not to recognize a battle situation when presented with one.

The rattata watched Kin (the trainer that it had just chuckled at) go after him but then noticed a smaller creature going after it and watched the Charmander had its claws open ready to scratch at it. The laughing side of it disappeared as it was ready. Kin didn't notice yet he noticed that his Charmander without his command had started to attack immediately as to prove its worth to Kin and to show that it was loyal to him.
It was entirely focused. It was hit by a single scratch attack by Charmander scoring a blow against and pushing it away. It hadn't very many battles at all but it was learning quickly. Rattata quickly rammed its self into Charmander who was somewhat surprised by this effort. Yet, it felt some of the attack while Rattata was hurting more from the blow given by Charmander.

Wild Rattata: Moderately damaged
(Well, this is my second time doing it for being a mod now. New one and also helping out the main people who do this so they don't have to worry as much.)
